Matthew Sherry is the Economic Development Advisor to the Saskatoon Tribal Council. He has occupied this position for the past eleven years. His role is to create sustainable economic development opportunities that are focused on creating new wealth and employment opportunities for the Saskatoon Tribal Council and its seven member First Nations.
Matthew graduated from Eastern Washington University in 1987 with a Bachelors Degree in Economics and Finance. Upon graduation he moved to Los Angeles, CA and started his career in banking and finance with the United States Department of the Treasury as a Federal Bank Examiner. He eventually moved to the private sector where he earned his way in to the position of Vice President at Bank of America. His career at Bank of America placed him in Chicago, New York, and Toronto. He has personally directed over $500 million of commercial transactions for the financial institutions that he has represented across North America (18 U.S. states and 4 Canadian provinces). Matthew has also served on a number of private company boards of directors, both for-profit and charitable organizations.
Matthew’s passion and persistence has and will continue guide his primary business objective, “greater Aboriginal participation in Saskatchewan’s key industrial sectors”.
